The Juniper Hat uses varying motifs and alternating colors to create a hat that is irresistible to knit. Very little yardage is required making the Juniper Hat perfect for using up leftover yarn. The sample was knit using the leftovers from the Red Cedar sweater.

SIZES
(1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

To fit (toddler, child, adult s, adult m, adult lg)

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Hat circumference: (14, 16, 18, 20, 22) inches / (35, 40, 45, 50, 55) cm

Hat height: (6.75, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5) inches / (17, 17.5, 19, 20, 21.5) cm

Choose the size closest to the recipient’s head circumference. Stranded colorwork is typically less stretchy than regular stockinette.

YARN
(1, 1, 1, 1, 2) skeins De Rerum Natura Ulysse in Goeland (MC),

(1, 1, 1, 1, 1) skein De Rerum Natura Ulysse in Caramel (CC1),

(1, 1, 1, 1, 1) skein De Rerum Natura Ulysse in Foret (CC2).

Or (134, 153, 171, 191, 209) yards / (122, 139, 156, 174, 191) meters MC,

(15, 17, 18, 20, 22) yards / (13, 15, 16, 18, 20) meters CC1,

(15, 17, 18, 20, 22) yards / (13, 15, 16, 18, 20) meters CC2 sport weight yarn.

NEEDLES
One 32 inch (80 cm) US size 5 (3.75 mm) (or size needed to obtain gauge), and one 32 inch (80 cm) US size 3 (3.25 mm) (or two whole sizes smaller than gauge needle) circular knitting needles.

Note: Magic loop is used for all small circumference knitting in my patterns. If you prefer, you can use a smaller length circular needle or double pointed needles of the same sizes to work the hat.

NOTIONS
Stitch marker, and a tapestry needle.

GAUGE
24 stitches and 38 RNDS = 4 inches / 10 cm in stockinette on US size 5 (3.75 mm) needles.
